Preparing a second home before an absence
Use this guide to prepare visit instructions. It does not replace manufacturer guidance, insurance obligations or technical advice.
Write down agreed settings
Specify shutter positions, equipment left running and which water points may be operated. Do not request a general shutoff without checking equipment consequences. Ask the relevant specialist to validate heating, AC or special-appliance settings.
Mail plants and access
State where unopened mail should be placed. For plants, record species, water amounts and frequency instead of a general watering request. Check keys and badges against a handover record. Sensitive codes use a separate process, not public forms or portal notes.
Plan how observations are handled
Name a reachable contact and a backup. List authorised simple protective actions; a repair booking and spending follow agreed approvals. A visit records conditions at one time, not a guarantee against a later leak or failure.
